The card printers are designed for single-sided or dual-sided card printing. According to the printing technology, they can print full-color and/ or monochrome images. They are mainly used for relatively small series identical cards (up to 5 000 cards) or print of cards with changeable information: color pictures, company symbols, text, barcodes, numbers, names, etc. The printing option on both sides eliminates the risk of discrepancy between the face and back when printing series of cards and operating data bases. An important functionality of some of the models is the ability to record information on magnetic stripe or chip cards.

The choice of print technology and model depends on several factors:

1. Number of cards;

2. Type of use;

3. Type of card – standard, magnetic stripe, chip (contact or contactless);

4. The information needs to be written on a chip (contact or contactless) or magnetic stripe;

5. Necessity for additional protection – hologram protections, laminates, scratch panel coating.
